Explorer Syann Hollins and Shadae Hillsman took part in the annual North X Midwest Film Festival held in March by Public Media Network. The annual film festival awarded teens and adult filmmakers on their creative works made on a budget.

Syann served as interviewer for the festival’s Teen Filmmaker portion where Explorer Shadae had partnered with other students for a film they entitled, “Traveling.” While the film did not win any awards, the opportunity to share media talents with the hundreds in attendance was an experience the students will never forget.

Public Media Network has helped the community tell their stories in Kalamazoo for nearly 40 years. Community residents are invited to learn how to use equipment, produce their own cable television shows, and be featured in events for their works by PMN-sponsored events such as the annual North X Midwest Film/Teen Festival.
